iiis (pronounced ‘eyes’) have their second release out now. With a heavy emphasis on DIY, their latest release was recorded and produced by the band, creating tension and atmosphere in slow, heavy, intricate washes that rise and fall. Play loud for full effect!
iiis are: Paul Allen (he/him) guitars/vocals, Helen Pearson (she/her) drums/vocals.
About iiis: iiis formed in Feb 2024 when Paul was looking for musical collaborators on a similar wavelength and found Caroline (previous bassist). Caroline saw Helen drumming in her previous band (Spill the River), and approached her to join the band, and so iiis was formed. The last tracks were recorded with musician Hannah on bass and since then, the line up has formed into core songwriters Paul and Helen who collaborate with other musicians to explore and create slow, experimental songs. They are currently playing with Gareth Jones bassist from North London’s electric drone pop band The Leaf Library.
iiis choose to take the path less traveled - “what would it sound like if we did the complete opposite” happens many times during the song writing process - we want to challenge ourselves to think differently, try new things and find the best way to give the songs life.
We are a diverse band in many forms; age, sexuality, gender, neurotypes and the music is both everything and nothing to do with this. Songs form from parents, politics, loss, inaction, anxiety and the things we wish we could’ve said and the things we wish we could scream.
